Data Marts

Electric, gas and cable utilities have extensive "operations data marts" in their existing service delivery systems - in traditional operational systems, for example: geographic information systems (GIS), work management systems (WMS), mobile workforce management (MWFM), outage management systems (OMS), computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP), as well as in the newer real-time information management systems, for example: substation automation (SA) and meter data management systems (MDMS).

Enspiria Solutions offers utilities an architecture that improves utility planning and asset management by leveraging existing operational and real-time data. Enspiria's Enterprise Oriented ArchitectureSM (EOA) framework provides a hub for real-time integration to maximize utilization of utility data in the energy delivery domain.

Real-time integration brings the power of the various data marts to bear on business and operational decision-making. Examples of the benefits of bringing real-time information from the data marts to the service/energy delivery domain include the ability to:

  • Thematically analyze history logs of operations, causes of outages, real-time information from SCADA, weather, meters and other automation devices, etc.
  • Provide planning tools with accurate peak loading and system configurations for better analysis.
  • Develop prioritized lists of improvement projects. Integration of newer planning tool functionality such as load forecasting and performance forecasting allows additional parameters to be weighed.
  • Verify outages/detect nested outages.
  • Determine historical and predicted reliability risks associated with assets during the CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) planning process.
