Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - also referred to as Inspection and Maintenance Systems - allow an organization to manage the maintenance and inspection of equipment and facilities. Use of a CMMS package can improve productivity, lower overall operating costs and store valuable information about maintenance functions in an organization. CMMS implementations can be integrated with numerous utility information systems such as:
- Work management systems to schedule and track the inspections and maintenance.
- Asset repositories to log results
- Geographic information systems to determine routes or to coordinate/track pole inspections, regulatory inspections (e.g. leak survey) or vegetation management.
- Mobile inspection and maintenance systems.
In the utility industry, the terms "computerized maintenance management system" or "inspection and maintenance" are sometimes confused with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). CMMS is certainly an asset management function; however, EAM is much more than inspection and maintenance. It includes business practices as well as an integrated set of computerized systems which enable the management of assets. CMMS is one of those integrated systems.
Enspiria provides both CMMS and EAM services and technology solutions. Enspiria's CMMS practice includes:
- Consulting on "leading edge" technologies and technology assessment.
- Development and management services for CMMS RFPs and vendor selection.
- Implementation and integration of CMMS solutions.
