Business Intelligence

Organizations often keep and maintain data related to their operational assets in multiple systems, including: financial accounting, enterprise resource management (ERP), geographic information system (GIS), real-time network management, computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), engineering systems and various data marts.

The purpose for storing this information is to provide answers to business questions. However, many issues must be addressed in order to effectively access and combine this data, for example:

  • How can the user best access the data across all these applications to improve asset management?
  • How can the user update the same data once for all applications?
  • Where should the "master" data reside?
  • Should an enterprise data warehouse, engineering data warehouse or "integrated asset registry" be used?
  • If so, should the data warehouse be spatial centric (GIS based), financial centric (ERP based), or time-series centric (e.g. operations data warehouse like PI Historian) ?
  • Should the data warehouse be federated, distributed, or centralized?

The options and approaches vary with each client's situation and business objectives. Enspiria's experts can help you to establish a tailored business intelligence strategy and architecture that draws upon successful practices and system implementations at other enterprise-wide projects.
